Despite Economy, Over $100,000 Raised For CASA

Adams and Broomfield Counties, CO – While most businesses, especially non-profits are experiencing difficult financial times, CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Adams and Broomfield Counties raised more than $105,000 during its Kaleidoscope of Hope fundraising luncheon on Wednesday, November 17th. CASA of Adams & Broomfield Counties, which provides advocacy for child victims of abuse and neglect, held their annual luncheon at the Denver Merchandise Mart, attracting four hundred attendees.

Guests gathered to learn about the work CASA does through volunteer advocates who speak up for children of abuse in court. The event featured several speakers, including Judge Jill-Ellyn Straus, who expressed the importance of CASA’s role from the court’s perspective, and Simone Jones, Executive Director for CASA of Adams & Broomfield Counties.

“The overwhelming support that was pledged at this event to help our communities’ most vulnerable citizens during these tough economic times is truly heartwarming. The communities in Adams & Broomfield Counties really understand the significant needs of children suffering from child abuse and neglect,” Jones said.

Guests were also treated to a video, featuring several current CASA of Adams & Broomfield Counties advocates, as well as the real children whose lives they have changed.

While this year’s luncheon has passed, child abuse and neglect is a year-round problem.
