The Heartland Urban Garden (HUG) group (a group of neighbors most of whom reside in the Reunion sub division) has prepared a presentation to City Council. The purpose of the presentation is to inform City Council of HUG's plan for the community garden and to request to assistance from the City to make their plans come true.
The proposed location for the HUG community garden is on city owned land which was dedicated to the city for a future school site by the developer. Landmark Academy occupies the majority of the site, the eastern portion is currently vacant, however the school district has previously requested the vacant land be held for future school use. The site currently does not have a water tap.
HUG is seeking city assistance for use of the property for a community garden and with getting water to the site to support the community garden.
